Darcelle XV Drive-In Drag Show

Darcelle XV & Company

In the middle of the pandemic, Treadway Events transformed the drive-in format into a bold, glittering stage for the legendary Darcelle XV and cast. With FM-transmitted audio, honk-for-love moments, and runway-level production, we delivered a historic, sold-out celebration of pride, performance, and resilience.

CREATED THE NORTHWEST’S FIRST DRIVE-IN DRAG SHOW—STARRING DARCELLE XV

The Darcelle XV Drive-In Drag Show made history as the first-ever drive-in drag performance in the Pacific Northwest, bringing legendary queen Darcelle XV and a fierce cast of entertainers to the stage during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Guests experienced the show from their vehicles, with a raised runway stage, FM-broadcast audio, and an atmosphere of celebration and resilience.

STRATEGIC SOLUTIONS

CHALLENGE

Reimagine the energy and interactivity of a drag show in a physically distanced, drive-in format—without sacrificing connection, production value, or audience participation.

INSIGHT

The heart of drag lies in performance, personality, and crowd interaction. To succeed in a vehicle-based format, we needed to make every car feel like the front row while maintaining the glam and flair drag fans expect.

SOLUTION

Treadway managed event marketing, branding, on-site operations, signage installation, and radio transmission, along with staging coordination in partnership with our AV team. We implemented creative audience engagement strategies, including honk-for-love responses, camera projection, and dynamic lighting to ensure high-impact visuals from every viewing angle.

RESULTS

The event sold out multiple nights, received regional media attention, and created a joyful, safe, and empowering space for both performers and fans. It became a standout moment of LGBTQ+ celebration during one of the most challenging years for live entertainment—while honoring the legacy of one of Portland’s most iconic performers.
